About Conservation
The National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property (NRLC) was established in 1976 to research the issues related to the conservation of India's cultural properties. The Conservation Division is one of NRLC's many divisions, set up to carry research findings into the field for better testing and viability, and to meet the conservation needs of stakeholders.
The Division provides professional conservation services to public and private institutions as well as private custodians of Indian heritage. Beyond India, NRLC's Conservation Division extends its services to SAARC countries and has undertaken several projects of international repute. To reach stakeholders in southern India, a Regional Conservation Laboratory (RCL) was established at Mysore in 1986.
